Kambo Ceremony

A sacred detox experience for those who feel called to go deeper. All are welcome.

Please read this page in its entirety to see if Kambo is a good fit for you.

What is Kambo?

Kambo is a powerful detoxing medicine secreted by the Giant Monkey Frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor), a species native to the Amazon rainforest. Used for thousands of years by indigenous Amazonian tribes for physical purification, mental clarity, and spiritual alignment, Kambo is one of the most potent natural detoxifying substances known.

It is not a psychedelic. It does not alter your perception of reality. What it does is far more grounded.

Kambo works by triggering a full-body purge that clears what has accumulated in the body over time: toxins, stagnation, heaviness. Many describe it as hitting a reset button — one that works on the physical, emotional, and energetic body all at once.

The benefits of Kambo

Kambo has been used and studied for its wide range of physical and energetic benefits. Those who work with it regularly report:

Physical:

  • Deep cellular detoxification
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Increased energy and vitality following recovery
  • Support for chronic pain conditions
  • Improved digestion and gut health
  • Relief from fatigue and physical heaviness

Mental & Emotional:

  • Significant reduction in anxiety and depression
  • Mental clarity and sharpness
  • Release of long-held emotional patterns
  • Increased sense of presence and groundedness
  • A reset of the nervous system

Spiritual & Energetic:

  • Clearing of what indigenous traditions call panema — energetic heaviness, bad luck, or stagnation
  • Deepened connection to intuition and inner knowing
  • A renewed sense of purpose and direction
  • Feeling of lightness, alignment, and coming home to the body

To receive the full spectrum of Kambo's healing benefits, the Matses tribe recommends three sessions within one lunar cycle — a protocol that works to inoculate and reset the intestinal system.

How the process works

Kambo is administered through small burns made on the surface of the skin — typically on the arm or inner wrist. The top layer of skin is gently removed and a small amount of Kambo is applied directly to the point. From there, the medicine enters the lymphatic system almost immediately.

Within minutes, the body begins to respond.

What to expect during ceremony:

Most of the active purging happens within 20 to 40 minutes of receiving the medicine. Common experiences include:

  • A rapid increase in heart rate, a flushing sensation, and temporary increase in body temperature as the body works to kill off parasites, fungal and bacteria growth
  • Swelling of the face, lips, and throat — this is normal and temporary
  • Nausea and purging (vomiting or diarrhea) — this is the primary mechanism of detox and is considered a release
  • Tears, snot, or phelgm expulsion
  • Sweating, shaking, feelings of heat, or oscillation between heat and cold
  • Emotional release or a sense of something lifting
  • Deep stillness and clarity following the purge

Ceremony length is typically 2 to 4 hours, but varies depending on group size.

After the purge, it is common to feel tired. Participants are encouraged to rest, integrate, and are recommended to have the day off from responsibilities, if possible.

The ceremony experience

I hold Kambo as a sacred ceremony. Every ceremony is held within a carefully crafted ritual container that supports the medicine and honors the frog spirit it comes from.

The ceremony includes:

Altar and ritual space setup — every ceremony is held within a intentionally prepared sacred space, wherever you are

✦ Icaros ceremony music — prerecorded traditional healing songs woven throughout the experience to support the body and spirit

Kambo frog spirit meditation — a guided meditation to connect with the spirit of the frog before receiving the medicine, setting clear intention for the work

Shamanic drumming — to open the space and open the body prior to recieving

Sananga eye drops — a sacred Amazonian plant medicine applied to the eyes to clear the eyes and sinus cavities. It also helps to decalcify the pineal gland (third eye). It burns like cayenne pepper juice in your eyes but it is purging the eyes of parasites and bacteria - so it's for a good cause!

Hapé tobacco snuff — a sacred ceremonial tobacco blend used to ground the body, clear the mind, and open the breath before medicine work.

I will travel to your home or a space of your choosing. A gas fee may apply depending on location.

I will come to you — inside your home, your backyard (I can bring an EZ Up), a friend's living room, or other private space.

For groups of 4 or more choosing the Matses traditional paththree ceremonies within one lunar cycle to inoculate and reset the intestines — the investment drops to $150 per person per ceremony. A 50% deposit of the grand total holds your dates.

With larger groups I may have my partner Ian — a professional herbalist and health consultant —assist me to ensure every participant receives full support throughout the ceremony.

What if someone wants to only do Sananga and Hapé? They are welcome to join at a rate of $60, but their attendance doesn't count toward the 4 required Kambo participants.

Preparing for ceremony — the dieta

Following the recommended dieta protocol prior to your Kambo ceremony will support the detoxing process during and after the session, and help your body integrate the medicine more fully in the days that follow.

Detailed dieta instructions will be provided to each participant via email or text after your application has been approved.

Following the dieta is encouraged, but listen to your body and make adjustments as needed. The more you bring to the preparation (however that looks for you), the more the medicine has to work with and the deeper it can go.

Apply for ceremony

Spots are limited and every participant is reviewed individually with care through the health intake process.

If you have any questions, feel free to add them in the questions section of the application.
